Thoughts on Kaepernick

Day 93

It’s incredibly sad to see Ray Lewis and his ilk asking for Kaepernick to be quiet about his beliefs. Should we even call them beliefs at this point, though? Don’t we all have the same internet and watch the same television? Does it really take “belief” to think that black people shouldn’t be murdered by cops and that the cops shouldn’t then get paid leave? That’s what is so crazy about this situation. Anyone with eyes can see that Kaepernick doesn’t have a baseless stance. Sure, you might not agree with his methods, but can anyone, with a straight face, say that there is nothing to what Kaepernick is saying? That he’s lost his mind to think that we shouldn’t live in a country where black men can be murdered on tape and we still can’t convict their killers? Maybe, just maybe, there are some terrible things happening disproportionately to black people at the hands of law enforcement. Perhaps, we should do something about it.
