On Insecure’s Lawrence: Episode 3
Day 98
Just finished watching Episode 3 of Insecure and I’ve got to say that Lawrence ain’t shit. Well, kind of, but not really. This shouldn’t surprise anyone. The whole “Lawrence is such a good dude” narrative was ridiculous before it started. He wanted to desperately be a wounded hero in his own revenge story, but it turns out, he’s just wounded. It’s not like Lawrence is a particularly bad guy. If anything, he’s just average. And now that he “cheated” on Tasha in more ways than one, Issa no longer holds the title for biggest fuck up in their relationship/friendship hying. So that just leaves two wounded people who are tying to heal through other people. Issa and Lawrence need to understand that they’re not going to find what they’re looking for in anyone else — they’ve got to find it in themselves. Of course, maturity doesn’t make good television, so don’t count on this happening. Oh well, looking forward to Episode 4.
