Are You Working on Your Core?

Day 35

I mean the core of who you really are. Are you working on your character? Are you preparing to be the person you need to be when the shit hits the fan. It always hits the fan. Are you working on how you’ll love better and give more? Can you say that you’re loving better and giving more than you were 3 months ago? I’m not so sure I can. But I’m not so sure I can’t. I think my answer should be more definitive. I’ll work on that.

Will you work on that? Perhaps I’m speaking into the abyss of my own mind. Perhaps I don’t care. But should I care? Probably. Caring people care, right?

I know this sounds like rambling. Congrats! You figured it out.

Sorry didn’t mean to be an asshole.

Back to the original question. What are you doing here? Right now? Why are you reading this? Seriously, you could be reading anything in the world but you’re here with me. I appreciate that.

Uh.

Do you want words of wisdom? Do I have words of wisdom for you? Um, sure, I guess. Here ya go:

  • Life is short. No really, live it.
  • Do all the cliches, but mean them.
  • Don’t be a bully.
  • Stand up for the vulnerable. There is always someone worse off than you who you can help and protect. So do it.
  • Cry when you need to. We have too many people who are angry and hateful (vast majority of whom are men) because they’ve never learned how to be sad properly. And it’s sad. Sad!
  • Love hard because in the end it’s everything.
  • Don’t waste your time on House of Cards Season 5. Seriously, I was disappointed as fuck.
  • Only fart in public if you’re in a room loud and big enough for your fart to be untraceable to you.
  • Take care of your spirit. Faith matters. Especially when you doubt.
  • If you’re lucky enough to have parents in your life — call them.
  • Watch what you eat or else you might miss your mouth.
  • Also, you should try to take care of your body. Eating too many sugars and carbs makes you feel all icky.
  • Do something physical every day other than standing up, walking and sitting back down.
  • Get 7 hours of sleep or more each night.
  • Drink a lot…of water.
  • Take cold showers — thank me later.

And above all, take care of your core — the core of who you are. Make sure you create something just for you every day. Forgetting who you are at your core is the quickest way to hate your time here. And your time here is a gift so open it up and play with it like a PlayStation on Christmas morning.

Thanks for listening. And look at that, Day 35 is done.
